Budco Gateway Fulfillment Center and Specialized Storage Areas Accommodate Growing Client Base
HIGHLAND PARK, MICHIGAN (April 18, 2008) - Budco, the Highland Park marketing services and distribution company, is adding significantly to its existing 750,000-square-foot capacity. Two facilities make up the expansion.
"The Budco Gateway Fulfillment Center encompasses 150,000 square feet of newly leased space. Situated near I-96 and the Southfield Freeway in Detroit, Budco Gateway joins Budco West, Budco East and Budco South, the facilities that presently make up the Budco campus. With the Gateway expansion, named for the industrial park in which it's located, total Budco square footage approaches a million square feet.
The second new fulfillment area is a build-out at Budco West. This 15,000-square-foot space incorporates stringent temperature and pest controls as well as lot and expiration tracking for up to 2,000 pallets of material.
"We're adding because we're growing," said Terry Niles, President of Budco. "Several new national customers have elected to bring their business to us, and we simply ran out of room. Coming from the pharmaceutical, food products, packaged goods and entertainment industries, these customers have very specialized requirements." Noting that Budco is pleased to accommodate the specifications, she added, "What a great problem to have! And Gateway is perfect because we are bringing exciting new capabilities to our customers."
Executive Vice President, Operations Rob Hyman echoed Ms. Niles' sentiment in commenting on the changes underway. "Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards is essential to working with these clients. Our facilities have been carefully audited against GMP several times, and always successfully. Plus, we're importing the same proprietary Budco Logistics System inventory management platform and Budco Quality Operating System processes to Budco Gateway and the Budco West build-out for the best of all possible reasons - we know they work."
Both Budco Gateway and the revamped Budco West area will be open for business in June.
